What does "All-on-X" mean?

"All-on-X" is the umbrella name for full-arch implant solutions where an entire arch of teeth is supported by a set number of implants. The "X" stands for the number used:

• All-on-4 — a full arch on four implants. The most common approach; the back implants are angled to use available bone and often avoid grafting.
• All-on-6 — a full arch on six implants, sometimes chosen for extra support or larger arches.

All of them share the same idea: instead of a removable denture that sits on the gums, your new teeth are anchored to implants and fixed in place — so they don't slip, don't need adhesive, and let you eat and speak with confidence. The right number for you depends on your bone, your bite, and your goals, which a 3D scan determines.

Who is a candidate for All-on-X?

Most adults who are missing most or all of the teeth in an arch, or whose remaining teeth are failing, are candidates. You may be a good fit if you:

• Wear a denture that slips, clicks, or has to be glued in.
• Have several loose, broken, or decayed teeth that aren't worth saving.
• Have been told you "don't have enough bone for implants" — All-on-4 is specifically designed to use available bone, and Dr. Khuu also performs bone grafting when needed.

A CBCT 3D scan at your consultation confirms candidacy and maps the exact plan. If you're healthy enough for a routine dental procedure, you're usually healthy enough for All-on-X.

What happens, and how long does it take?

• Consultation & 3D scan. Dr. Khuu reviews your anatomy on CBCT and builds a guided surgical plan — and gives you a clear, all-in quote.
• Surgery day. Any failing teeth are removed and the implants are placed using the guided plan. Sedation is available. Then you go home and rest.
• Your new teeth, a day or two later. While you recover, our trusted lab partner crafts your fixed temporary arch. You return to have it attached — fixed in place, no gap, no denture.
• Final teeth. Over the next few months the implants fuse with the bone (osseointegration). Your custom, permanent prosthesis is fitted once healing is complete.

Why we don't do "teeth in a day"

Many clinics advertise attaching a full arch the same day as surgery. Dr. Khuu deliberately doesn't. Surgery is enough for one day — you heal better resting at home, and giving the lab a proper window to craft your arch produces a better fit and a better-looking result. A day or two of patience, for teeth that are done right. Individual timelines and results vary.
